I purchased a 2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie 1800BH from Timberlake RV in January 2022. The purchasing experience was not terrible but there were some hiccups that could have been avoided.
I knew what I was looking for and had done my research prior to contacting the dealer. The sales person I contacted had only worked there for a couple of months and gave me some wrong information about the purchase. I asked for an out the door purchase price so that I knew how much I needed to finance. He told me $31,800 out the door with tax and tags and based on this information I financed that amount. When I went to finalize the paperwork at the dealership the actual price was $31,810.60. When I brought this discrepancy up they changed the purchase price to what was quoted. Not a big deal just a little annoying and they made it right. This new salesman also told me that if I was not financing with their dealership they could not do the tags and I would have to go through the DMV. That did not sound right and I contacted the main office and was told that this was incorrect and they could do tags whether I financed through them or not.
The deal was finalized and I left the unit with them a couple days so they could do a detail and inspection. When I returned I brought my hitch with a 2" ball receiver but was told when I got there that I needed a larger ball. I had one at home but did not bring it with me because I was not told that the trailer's receiver was a larger ball size. The dealership ended up giving me a new hitch receiver and ball free of charge without any questions.
Most of these issues I can attribute to a new sales person that did not have the experience he needed yet. I think the dealership should make sure that a new sales person is paired with a senior person so that these issues can be resolved before they turn into issues.
Fast forward to March 2022, warmer weather broke and I started looking around the RV and setting things up to look for any issues that I might have missed during the pre-purchase inspection. I got onto the roof and noticed that there was some bubbling in the roof membrane on the corner of the roof where the ladder was. Upon further inspection the roof membrane was loose and bubbled along the entire perimeter of the roof and in the middle where the roof was seamed.
I contacted Timberlake RV and scheduled a time to take my RV in for inspection and warranty repair. I was told that Timberlake RV does not have a repair technician on site, they contract their repair work out to another shop and he was booked until the beginning of April so I scheduled my drop off and waited. The week I was supposed to drop off my trailer I got a call from Timberlake RV. They stated that the technician that does all of their repair and warranty work had been injured in a car accident and would not be able to do any work for the foreseeable future. The only two options available to me are to contact Winnebago and see if they will allow me to take it to a non Winnebago dealer in my area to get the work done or drive 100 miles to my nearest Winnebago dealer to have the work done. I don't have a conclusion for this story because I am still dealing with this. This was upsetting because when I bought the unit I was told that if anything happened I could come back to them for any warranty/repair work. Unfortunately, they don't have any on site repair techs and the contract they do have is with only one person and that person is no longer able to work.
In conclusion, Timberlake RV is not a terrible place to purchase an RV, they have low or no dealer fees, good pricing on their units and friendly staff.
If you have an issue with your unit you may be out of luck and have to take it somewhere else. It is not that they don't want to help they just don't have service techs on staff and their contracted service technician is currently out with no time frame for return.
I only have experience with Sales and Dealership Warranty/Support. I gave Parts and Service 3 stars because it was the middle of the road rating and this site would not allow me to leave them blank.
