I traded a used Newmar Class A Motor Home for a new Cherokee Wolf Pup at Sun Camper RV on 3/18/2021. Huge mistake! I wanted to buy local, so I allowed them to lowball my trade-in, but that was nothing compared to the grief I suffered dealing with them for more than a year.
My FIRST issue was that they took WEEKS to pay off my MH loan that I was paying with automatic bank withdrawals. It took months to get my payment refund, and that's after the first refund check was lost in the mail.
A few weeks after delivery and our first outing, we found a few issues that needed to be addressed. I spoke with Paul, the service manager, and had anticipated the warranty repairs would be made within the next few months.
Some of my warranty issues revolved around a defective 7-way trailer cord and braking issues and a melted 30 Amp Shore Power chord. Things they should have taken far more seriously than they did, in my opinion. In December, 9 months after purchase, they asked me to bring the trailer in to have the service plug examined for a possible recall. During this visit, I had again questioned the previous warranty work I was waiting for an presented some new issues. They took pictures of everything that needed done (as required by Cherokee warranty claims department?) and was told I would be contacted with results. More than a month later, I called and was told nothing had been done and nothing further could be done without pictures (which they had obviously lost and forgotten about!), so I sent them additional pictures and was an appointment date for repairs 5 weeks later. I delivered the camper, went home and waited for a call to pick it up. Two weeks later, having heard nothing, I called to ask the status of the repairs and was told NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE and an office worker checked their records and told me that as of that day, NO WARRANTY REQUESTS HAD EVEN BEEN PRESENTED TO CHEROKEE! We had camping reservations, so I recovered my camper and waited for a call to bring it back for repairs. When most of the parts were delivered, I again left it there for another 5 weeks! Some of my warranty issues were resolved but some others never were. The entertainment system never worked correctly and I simply won't use it.
In summary, the owner and management of Sun Campers displayed total incompetency from sales to service. There is apparently a very high employee turnover rate at Sun Campers. I was never able to contact the apparently absent business owner, Cody Danks, and he never returned a text relative to my inquiries. I will never visit that business again for anything!
