Where to begin?
We all know the RV industry doesn't have the most sterling reputation, but this dealership managed to take things to the highest (read: lowest) level I've ever seen in 30 years of RV ownership.
They were one of 3 dealerships in the country with the coach we had our eye on. I spoke with now-retired-salesman Jeff Close and was assured that everything was tippy-top before I fueled up the super C I'd be trading in, grabbed a buddy and drove the 600 miles (at no small expense) from California to Ogden.
Upon my arrival, Jeff introduced himself and then -- I kid you not -- retired... as in fully-retired /ended his working years / terminated his career... FIVE minutes later. I now think that Blue Compass' failure to address the laundry list of factory defects which proved to be all-too-visible on the 2024 coach weren't of great concern to ANYONE there, as "this poor schlub had incurred such time & expense in getting here, there's no way he'll make a stink or turn around and walk".
You, dear reader, are welcomed to examine the photographs replete with bedroom TVs literally broken off the wall and hanging loose, and stair treads ripped to such extent that they were a safety hazard of the 2024 Inception 38DA that is still showing on their website (2 months) after the sale.
But I digress. Given that my primary point of contact RETIRED five minutes after my arrival, I spent TWO DAYS chasing any personnel I could find to a) address my laundry list of factory defects, to b ) schedule some sort of walk-thru and to c) explain to me the $2000 PDI (as in Pre-Delivery INSPECTION) charge that they wouldn't budge on. Knowing the likelihood of actually getting a walk-thru was minimal, we opted to overnight in the unit in order to put the systems therein thru their paces. But guess what? You're not left with keys -- which I understand -- which pretty much renders testing leveling jacks / slides and anything/everything related to the chassis impossible. Hence, I didn't discover the leveling jack or slide issues until on the way home.
Here it bears mention that the ONLY time we had the attention of any Blue Compass personnel was a) 10 minutes before closing time, at which point we were told that we needed to finish transferring personal items from old to new coach, and b) when Brandon Snow, the finance guy, ceased mumbling thru the important details of the transaction to speak in totally-engaged, clear, concise & animated fashion about the warranty plan they were desperate to sell. I literally had to cut this pitbull or a hard-selling salesman off mid-sentence with a "Brandon! No!!!" shout. Infuriating. Where was that engagement when it... you know... actually served the customer rather than lining their own pockets?
Everything you read here about their customer service in the myriad 1-star reviews is patently true. They simply will not return phone calls, emails, texts. Melissa Wick sounds all-too-helpful as a customer liaison, but appears wholly incapable of convincing GM Robbie Jensen to do the proper thing, and reach out -- service-after-the-sale-style -- to a dissatisfied customer.
So why did I then take a flawed coach anyway? Because -- get this -- I was told they'd been in correspondence with a Blue Compass RV dealership in nearby Reno, and that Reno Blue Compass RV would be "more than happy to mollycoddle me with exemplary, first-rate, customer-oriented service upon my arrival home". Fancy a little wager on how that worked out ?!? Fancy a little wager on whether ANYONE at Reno Blue Compass had heard ANYTHING about any of this? Fancy a little wager on whether Reno Blue Compass even has anything to do with motorhomes, rather than being a strictly trailer-oriented RV dealership/service center?
No, I wouldn't take that bet either.
So then. A lengthy 'review' to be sure. But then it just may save the next poor schlub from the foul, foul (foul) taste in one's mouth that dealing with Blue Compass RV in Marriott-Slater will undoubtedly bring.
Avoid this business at all costs.
p.s. LOVE the motorhome. Pity my enjoyment is marred by the deplorable treatment which rankles to this day.
