I bought a new 24 ft Imagine 2 days ago. Dealership was.2 1/2 hours away. Two men walked me through it and took me in the parts store, telling me I needed a larger ball and also hitch.
They took the hitch and ball to hook up and ready camper for the road while I went in to do the paperwork. It was hooked up (I thought).and ready to go.
I asked them if I would need sway bars for that distance.and they said.no. I had some at home.
45 miles away from home, going over a hill, the camper pops off the ball and drags me left and right across the interstate, then runs into the back of my truck. I'm terrified beyond words!
I'm a 68 year old female with 3 years of camper experience and I had no idea how to handle this.
I was so afraid if I didn't get hit by an 18 wheeler it would swerve right over the side of the hill.
I call dealership which had sister company 15 miles back in Alexandria. They send a guy who jacked it up and took it back with him. Nothing said to me at all...someone will be in touch.
I drive 45 miles home on a backroad doing 50 and crying.
Next day, no word. I text salesman at 4 saying I was disappointed in the lack of concern and information.
He calls and tells me it wouldn't have popped off if I had sway bars! Those guys never seated it on the ball. There is a groove midway all around the ball, so deep that in 2 days it's rusting!
I am not a believer in law suits but I believe in honesty and doing the right thing. I told him they should have looked at my bumper and though the damage is minimal its a new ford.f150 and Ford would charge.me a good bit to replace that plastic part in the middle.
And.at least pay me for having to drive 2 hours to pick it up again.
Sometimes sorry is an important word.
I dont want to go get it though I payed in full for it. I dont want to do business with a company so callous.
What audacity to not even acknowledge their horrible, potentially catastrophic mistake but also put it on me that it wouldn't have happened if I had sway bars. What?!!!
