Buyer Beware: Deposit Games at Optimum RV Ocala
I'm leaving this review to warn others about my experience with Optimum RV in Ocala. While they were happy to negotiate a price that fit my budget, their tactics felt very much like bait and switch.
Here's what happened:
We tentatively agreed on a great price for a Used Class C RV and the amount was to be "out the door". The unit we wanted was at their Tallahassee store, so we made the 3-1/2 hour trip up there to view the unit and do the final paperwork.
When we sat down to sign the paperwork after an all-day ordeal to "secure" this "out the door" price, they insisted on a $13,000 down payment for us to be able to get that price.
They also added on top of the "out the door" price a bunch of the ridiculous fees for their "safety" inspection ($5,995) transportation ($2,995) dealer overhead and profit ($995) and doc fees ($495).
I was especially insulted by the transportation fee ($2,995) since we drove to the location where the unit was located.
This inflated deposit and all of these "fees" ($23K+) impacted the overall cost by adding another 25% to the "out the door" price, essentially totally negating the original negotiation.
While I ended up walking away, I can't help but feel this is a common practice at Optimum RV in Ocala. The store in Tallahassee was left totally in the dark because all they were doing was following the direction given to them by the salesperson James in Ocala. It felt very misleading and left a bad taste in my mouth.
If you're considering buying from Optimum RV Ocala, be cautious of their deposit requirements and their fees and make sure you fully understand the “out the door” final price before putting any money down.
There are other RV dealerships out there that offer honest negotiation without these kinds of games.

Great sales experience. They had a wide selection of the type units we were looking for and found the one that best fitted our needs. It took a bit of negotiating but I think we came to a good agreed to selling price. The final walk-thru and small punch list of minor items that needed fixed took quite a while (it was just before Christmas and they were short-staffed). We left with what we thought was a 100% working order Travel Trailer. We learned after the weather turned colder that the manufacture had not closed up the furnace properly and the trailer left the lot with sawdust packed into the blower. Again Optimum was short staffed so we had to pay $75 for a mobile RV Tech to work on the problem. If that's the only major issue then I am very satisfied with with Optimum RV

Do not have anything to do with this dealership. I have been advised to contact the attorney general of of the state of FL and report their shady business practice of lying to a customer.
This vehicle is still listed on the RVTrader site. This dealership should nit be allowed to do business on RVTrader. They are deceitful..

Just wanted to let all my family and friends what Ree and have experienced with dealing with Optimum RV here in Ocala Florida. We bought this park model trailer from Optimum RV they delivered it. The day we left to go back north to NH. When we got back in the fall we discovered that the floor was severely damaged and bad leaks at the sliding door and the pull out. We fought back and forth until they agreed to fix everything. Well last spring they picked our trailer and brought it to there repair shop. Well we got it back three weeks ago, and arrived back here two days ago. After inspection we decided they had done a great repair job. But we also discovered that lots of our belongings were STOLEN!!! Let's see, high end Air fryer, crockpot, insta Pot, toaster, garbage can, router, big fan, and can opener! So Never Ever Take Your RV For Repairs At OPTIMUM RV EVER!

I put money down for a specific RV model with Optimum's St. Louis location in mid June 2023, which they didn't have in stock, and was told there was one remaining on the mfgr lot that I could get with a $1000 down payment. So I put the money down, and 3 weeks later found out that the dealership had been sold to Optimum (was previously part of the Legacy RV group). I was told this would not impact my sale/order, but a month after that I was still getting the runaround and one of the sales managers at the Optimum FL office was trying to sell me a different model/RV I didn't want. When I finally figured out from my original salesperson that they couldn't get the original unit I was promised due to licensing transfer issues and a rep that had since sold it to a different dealership elsewhere in the country, I was promised my money back verbally by both the St. Louis salesperson as well as the FL office sales mgr. But a couple weeks later (now mid-August) I still hadn't received any word of the refund getting processed, and when I asked again, they told me they couldn't since it was originally paid to the Legacy group., even thought the dealership I paid was now theirs. Neither Optimum nor Legacy ever refunded my money. Luckily, I used a credit card and my credit card company offers a dispute process to protect consumers from corrupt companies like these. I filed a dispute and finally got my credit card to refund my deposit, but never heard back ANYTHING from either Legacy or Optimum. Meanwhile, one of these companies still has $1000 for a product they didn't deliver. Beware of both these dealership groups....would have left 0 star ratings if I could have....but 1 was the lowest I could set.

Our family purchased our RV online from the Ocala Dealership on 05/13 for over $61,000 everything included. We put down $10,000 and financed the rest. Included in this figure were fees to have the RV inspected by their people to ensure there were no issues with anything, that the RV was ready to go, and that the unit would be professionally cleaned by their staff. The unit arrived 05/25 and immediately contacted Optimum with our concerns. We also contacted a local inspector specializing in RV’s, for a professional inspection of the RV, and this is what he put in his report:
“upon entering the coach you can clearly see to the left hand side of the entrance the floor is soft, upon closer inspection you can see the wall, and wood work in that area is also swollen, and showing major signs of water damage. I climbed a ladder to inspect the roof. The roof appears to have been leaking long enough to rot the decking near the antenna. All 4 corners are soft, as well as around vents, and the AC unit front termination bar was actively leaking and was caulked by myself to stop water penetration. The exterior wall is delaminated above the main entrance.
1. I contacted several RV Roofing companies, with my inspection results, the cheapest quote I was given was $10,000. Requiring all decking to be replaced, and possible truss replacement near the TV antenna.
2. all trim work, back splash, and cabinets near the cook stove, as well as separating countertops, all need to be removed and replaced.
3. floor in front of slide out, around entrance steps, needs to be removed, and replaced.
4. Roof Ac unit needs to be removed and cleaned to eliminate black mold.
5. refrigerator, cook stove, and Microwave all show signs of rust, wear and need to be replaced.
Refrigerator was moldy, coils inside the fridge where so dirty, it had to be cleaned to get the thermistor to register temperature.
6. Living room sofa is peeling, and leaving plastic all over the floor.
7. As you enter the bedroom, the large sliding bedroom doors are missing, and a small curtain rood has been poorly installed, and screws are pulling out of the woodwork.
8. The nightstands next to the bed have the tops separating and need to be replaced.
9. The bedroom has clumps of dog hair in and around the bed platform.
10. The fresh water storage tank has visual black mold in the tank, and in the fill, and overflow hose as well.
11.The rear wall closest to the fresh water tank has water damage and appears to be separating at the rear corner of the unit.
12.Furnace combustion chamber when inspected with a camera, shows a high water mark inside the combustion chamber, and a lot of rust, when the customer used the furnace, they complained of light headedness, and headaches. I informed them to not use the unit, and that is must be replaced.
13.The water heater combustion chamber was full of rust, and needed to be serviced before use.
Drivers compartment.
1.Carpet is loose and peeling around foot well area in drivers compartment, and passenger compartment.
2.Dash pad is torn.
3.Gasket around the windshield is failing and falls into drivers vision area
4.dash ac does not cool.
5.wall is soft under driver's window, and has failed causing a hole.
6.broken windshild wiper arms,
7.front seats are both crumbling and peeling leaving piles of loose plastic dust on the floor.
8.bunk above the drivers area is slow and needed assistance to retract fully.
The unit is heavily worn, very dirty, and shows signs of a neglected unit, or a unit that was lived in for an extended period of time, and not maintained. The amount of attention this unit needs, with floor replacement, roof replacement, delamination in the exterior walls, and panel replacement on the interior walls, not to mention the unseen damage that will be found once the unit is opened, I would not attempt to repair, in my opinion it exceeds the value of the unit.”
This report was given to Optimum RV, who has doubled down on their claim the unit was sold “AS IS”. However, none of the issues were disclosed to us the buyer.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE. Optimum RV Ocala Complaint
We were expecting to do a walk thru and get our Rv that we purchased on May 27 within 2 weeks from time of purchase. We had a 2 month vacation planned with our new purchase to go out west. I never received the call that I was promised to set things up and give me update on anything. I called service and they said they had to order part for generator and had no idea when it would come. I kept calling for update and told by someone names Ricky that he still had no clue. Then we were finally called to set up time to do walk thru. My husband and someone named Brittany set it up for Thursday at 11:00 June 29. On Tuesday Brittany called to see where we were at..my husband told her our apt was for Thursday at 11 not Tuesday. I know for a fact it was Thursday and she screwed up because we had her on speaker and we both heard the date and she repeated it and she said she had us down. Wednesday late afternoon on the 28th of June, after we got the camper we were trading in hooked up and ready, my husband got a call from someone stating the walk thru for Thursday was cancelled because they had to drop the generator because it would not work. They stated they called firefly but everyone was on vacation, therefore, no walk thru. I contacted Steve because he is the only person that has not lied to us. He is the only person to get things done. The only one we can hang on to!! He jumped on it and called me back with Dan on speaker phone. We were promised by Dan that we would have our walk thru on July 6 at 11:00 and be able to go on our delayed vacation out west with our rv, July 7. On July 5 at 6:26 pm, We received a call after once again hooking up our camper, sway bars and back up camera only to be told that walk thru was again cancelled. Brittany stated that she hooked it up and refrigerator would not work and technicians were all gone home so she would schedule us for next week. My husband stated that he would not reschedule again that we were to get it or forget it. She said ok we will set it up for 3:00 for the walk thru instead of 11 for July 6 . She promised it would definitely be ready by 3. My husband told her we were bringing the travel trailor that we were trading and everything was all go. Brittany called back and told us we could come early and see if we found any more rv’s that we liked because at this point we decided we did not want this rv if it has so many issues, we are now scared it has to many problems. If we found anything, she said we could swap. We arrived at Optimum RV in Ocala at 12:15. We saw brittany and told her who we were and told her we would look at other RV’s. She handed us over to a salesman and told him to show us some rvs. I told him what we had and we wanted something close to that. A kid walks up and introduced himself as the assistant manager and his name was Omar. He was familiar with our issues and said he would help us to. We walked around and found a Pleasure Way Rv that we liked . This Guy Ricky called me as we were in the rv we liked and stated that a bad relay was the problem with the refrigerator and it would take only 15 minutes to fix it. I told the service guy Ricky, we were having doubts since so many problems were arising and he agreed. But he said he would still have it ready in 15 minutes and we could do the walk thru at 3:00. The guy that told us he was the assistant manager, Omar said our Rv was all apart and they were checking it piece by piece to make sure it was all working and it would not be ready for our walk thru. He stated we would have to come back another day. I said well we want to see about swapping with the Pleasure way rv then. He said he had to go talk to the big boss. He came back a few seconds latter and said the boss said we have to pay 25,000.00 more to get it and we have to get the one we purchased or it would be a long wait to get the Pleasure Rv. As we were leaving, Omar said if we have not heard anything by 5 to call him. At 5 we called omar and he said he would have someone call us. Of course no one called us. Do not have possession of our rv and have not heard anything from anyone at Optimum RV in Ocala. We had to cancel all summer plans because we do not have this Rv and our travel trailer we cannot use because we traded it (which we took with us but told to come back home with it)for the American Coach, back on May 27. We have only seen the rv we purchased on the day we looked at it and signed papers. We have not taked possesion of it at any point Today is July 20,2023. We just want to cancel everything because Optimum has not held up their end of our deal. It is now July 28 and they said they would call today and let me know that they cancel contract and we can be totally done with them. As usual, no word from them again!

5 weeks for delivery, Service dept. never returned our calls, had to call our sales person to try and get answers.
On the way home the refrigerator outside vent door fell off in the middle of a busy road. Fortunately my wife was following in car and was able to retrieve it, had several scratches on it. Called service and her response was, "Your motorhome is 10 years old and you know parts wear out." Said she would send me the lock mechanism in the mail, never received it. The Chassis battery was dead, the ceiling air condioner filter was so dirty, had to throw it away.. Was told they wash and wax the unit, but only got washed. I could write a book about OPTIMUM but it would take too long. Once again the sales team was great, but service and management was terrible.
