Just left Commonwealth after traveling 5 hours to see a 2007 Newmar Dutch Star. We dealt with Ken Tripper who was aware we were coming and had spoken to the owner of the rig and we were negotiating a $10,000 difference sight unseen. My husband was prepared to make a $5000 increase, however he wanted to visualize the rig to assess the cost of repairs we would need to make, prior to making the offer.
I read the reviews and it appears that Ken has been amazing to many. That was not our experience. Ken would not start the rig, stating the batteries were dead, he wouldn’t open the engine compartment because he did not have the keys and he wouldn’t demonstrate the slides let alone show us how it drove. He was derogatory about us “northerners” and I am, quite frankly, using one word “apoplectic”. Anyone can have a bad day and I get that but I am a retired Vice President of sales and spent my entire career interacting with clients. Ken didn’t respect us or hear anything we said. In my opinion, he missed an opportunity to close a sale and prevent customers from leaving feeling disrespected. I hope this anecdotal is taken in the spirit it is meant. Just feedback for the future. Thank you.
