There are so many other choices of RV retailers out there. Some good, some terrible. CW on this occasion has proven to be abysmal. Turning a happy and exciting purchase into something we may regret for a very long time. We honestly are wondering if we have actually been sold a very poor quality product OR sold something previously used.
Purchased a new 2021 Forrest River Sierra. Retailed about 80k. Sales representative Zack was great during the purchase process and I was excited to begin a new journey in a new RV.
Was sold an upgraded warranty for 7 years which included exterior protection and expanded protections that Forrest River didn’t include. Forrest River only warranty their RVs for a year - this should have
spoken volumes about the quality of the product.
During the initial sales inspection there were a number of small visual defects which - sadly, you have to become a custom to with RV companies. Apparently “Brand New” is not the same standard for RV companies. Campers World agrees with this poor quality also. Most of the RVs we looked at had pieces of trim missing or hanging off, scratches in surfaces and TV screens. Brand New???
As we got the RV home, we wanted to open it up to get it ready for our four weeks of camping. One of the slide-outs failed. It partially opened and would not close.
Of the areas that did open, the new / different light highlighted multiple surface scratches in the kitchen cabinets, lounge trim, the TV screen, and breakfast bar. A dent in the steel front of the stove. The bathroom sink had also fallen out of the cabinet, the foam seal from the lounge slides was hanging. To add insult to injury, the additional surface protection we had been strongly advised to purchase was applied poorly. Leaving streaks all over the RV as it dried. The service team hadn’t even taken off the sales stickers off the front door when applying the sealant. The just sprayed over the top. This lead to two large dull patches on the front door as the stickers were removed.
In addition to the exterior sealant, we had purchased Interior fabric protection. Like the exterior, this was applied so poorly, it left marks on the fabrics and the techs didn’t even move the cushions off the sofas. They wiped around them all leaving patches behind each and every cushion. It would have been funny if it wasn’t demonstrable incompetence and a blatant lack of professionalism or care.
Having not spent a single day/ night in the RV we have now canceled our second weeks vacation, the RV has been with Camping World (Perrysburg) for almost 15days and will not be ready until the 2nd of September. The RV was returned to us one time over night but the problem with the slide-out had not been fixed. The initial diagnosis was incorrect and a huge waste of time. The RV had to be returned to CW.
At the end of this experience the Brand New RV will have spent 21 days with the clowns at Camping World. This, by itself wouldn’t have been so bad BUT the communication run around, lack of returned calls or straight answers has made a difficult experience an absolute nightmare. The blatant lack of post sales care from Camping World has been quite literally shocking. They just don’t care. They got their money…. I am still waiting for the sales manager to call me back even now.
We would have gladly gone back to Camper World and continued a long term relationship with the retailer.
Thankfully we have a choice. So do you.
