When we began looking for a travel trailer we started at RV Shows. Why? Because I don't like salespeople; especially car salesmen (RV salesmen were viewed by me as just another version of a car salesman). I don't like "high pressure" sales tactics. I am a very methodical, and process-oriented shopper and I don't make many emotional decisions...especially when it deals with money...and moreso with this amount of money.
After we attended many (and I mean many) RV shows, we had narrowed down our list of potential units to four units; one each at four local dealerships. We quickly lined out two dealerships due to their salesperson's lack of knowledge couple with high-pressure sales tactics (interesting how these two things went together). Then, there were two.
At the end of the day, we made the right decision to go with Bob Ledford's Adventure Motor Homes. Our salesman, Josh Martin, was a pleasure to work with. He understood our concerns, didn't try to "push" us into something more expensive, bigger or heavier just to increase his commission. He truly listened to us. After the sale he helped us on multiple occasions with warranty items when the manufacturer didn't want to cover it. He even called in help one time when we were camping and we had an issue!
The parts department staff is absolutely amazing. They are very helpful, and just like Josh, don't "push" you to buy things. As a matter of fact, if they know your unit they will even tell you if something you're interested in won't work...or you just shouldn't buy it. How's that for honesty?
Our relationship with the service department got off to a rocky start. As a matter of fact, I ended up having two of the Ledford family's personal cell phone numbers. But, they hired a new service manager and things began to improve. Like all dealerships, they are backed up. But, if you can schedule something with them (it isn't something that requires you to not be able to use your camper), they will now get the work done when they say they will (barring any unforeseen items like deliveries of items from a manufacturer which they can't control).
Overall, we have been very pleased with Bob Ledford's. We are in the market for an upgrade and went to them first to shop their manufacturers. Hopefully we can make this work again.
