I bought my 2023 Heartland Big Country 3200 RLK brand new in April 2023 and have had quite a few issues with it. To start with, the landing gear/leveling jacks have never worked properly, nor does auto level feature work, had it re-calibrated at the dealer and still doesn’t work properly. The ducted air conditioning system does not cool the RV very well, any temperatures over 95 degrees and the air conditioners cannot keep up (having two 15k BTU A/C’s this rv should have no problem keeping cool). One of the bed struts in the under bed storage area broke off the second time I lifted the bed to put something in that storage compartment. The shower liner began delaminating from the wall after three months of usage. The black and grey water tank vents were not hooked up properly and would vent those disgusting gasses into the RV. Some other small things I found wrong with the RV are as follows: The sound bar in the entertainment system was not connected, the handrail for the stairs began to come apart, the Winegard 5g WiFi system was not connected/working, wood trim for the faux shutter window in the bedroom fell off and hit me in the head while sleeping, and many pieces of hardware on the exterior of the fifth wheel have required tightening or have fallen off (wheel skirts, hand rail, reflectors, etc). Lastly, the refrigerator condensation drain doesn’t work, there’s always water all over everything in the fridge. For a fifth wheel that has an MSRP of over 100k (according to Heartland RV), I’ve been pretty disappointed. The one year warranty is a joke as well but at least Heartland covered most of the above mentioned issues before the 1 yr warranty expired. I recommend buying from an RV manufacturer with better quality control and better warranty.

I would like to help someone out there shopping for a fifth wheel and they are the fence about a Heartland product. We did a lot of shopping for our first fifth wheel and our mistake was falling for all the “pretty features” rather than shopping for quality and customer service. We were barely two years into our purchase when we started noticing water damage in the slides. We contacted Heartland and after multiple tries to even get someone to respond, we were finally greeted by someone that understood our problem but said there was nothing they could do to help. We even had purchased an extended warranty but again this would not be covered. After having absolutely no luck with Heartland at all we contacted our insurance provider who ended up denying our claim. The repair shop came back with a 65k estimate to repair all three slides. The floors and ceiling are all rotten from water. Mold has also started growing. They proceeded to tell us that it was common especially with units built during the “Covid” timeframe. Since this started I have researched Heartland issues and it seems this is common. They want to blame customers on lack of maintenance which seems to be their way out of taking responsibility for poor workmanship. The repair shop stated to our insurance that our unit has been well maintained but at the end of the day Heartland doesn’t care. I will forever recommend people to steer clear of any company that doesn’t address customer issues and attempt to rectify. Heartland has absolutely zero customer service and it’s just not acceptable. I have a unit that is only a couple years old , that is valued now at approx 65-70k and it has 65k of damage. The worst part is I am still making payments on this rotten piece of garbage and now am retaining services of an attorney to help me with this. Please rethink ever purchasing a Heartland product.

So let’s face it, an RV is basically a cardboard box on wheels. So going into this thing I wasn’t expecting much. Low expectations it’s hard to be disappointed. All of the warranties are bad because even the manufacturers know it’s unlikely they will make it past the first couple years. We bought our 2016, used in 2019. So all that being said I will say we were pretty lucky the first few years. We love the floor plan. It’s open, lots of counter top space, the carpet is wearing as expected. Things were holding up. We did replace the faucet after the first 2 years. We did all the things you are supposed to do. Wash, wax, caulked, kicked the tires. Then the inverter went out, ok replaced. Then the batteries, because hey you are supposed to replace every 3 years. Ok they went out we replaced. The air conditioner literally creates ice and kicks it out the vents! Then the gel coat was gone, now delaminating is on us. Of course nothing covered by any insurance. So $10,000 bucks we gotta put into it because no body is going to buy this thing knowing the work that now has to be done. All I can say is if you are looking at an RV expect issues. This is not a house it’s a trailer rolling down the highway likes it’s being hit by a 5.5 earthquack.

This is the third fifth wheel camper I have had and It is the poorest quality of the three The others were a Dutchmen and a Jayco. This unit has cheap furniture, cheap flimsy wood trim inside that is falling off, the finish on the woodwork is junk and scratches easily. The tires that came on it were chineese junk. the slide outs do not seal tightly when closed. The bedroom slide out leaks water into the floor in the bedroom. I just discovered that the basement storage area has been leaking on the driver side and has rotted the floor out So its probablly been leaking since it was new. The plastic trim around wheel wells is poorly fastened and flaps in the wind going down the road. I will never buy a heartland product again This Camper has not seen heavy use and is falling apart.
