Rv was assembled in a hurry. Very poor and sloppy workmanship. End result is missing parts, things falling apart. Excess frame flex/failure. Wrong bolts, missing bolts, bad welds, suspension failure, bad frame design, things falling apart. Serious safety issues. To many corners were cut to make a profit and sacrifices safety. Show less

This RV checks almost all the boxes if you need a toy hauler but still camp in conventional campgrounds as it’s still under 40’. This is the trailer for you. Good kitchen storage , kitchen is cramped with more than 2 people in it at once. Limited space for eating but good couch layout for watching TV. Big master bedroom and good size shower and great half bath in the garage for the kids. Small outside storage gotta get creative but still works. This trailer has had the least amount of problems out of my previous Dutchman and Forest River trailers. Would purchase again. Show less

I decided to trade in my Motorhome for a Toy Hauler and chose Grand Design because of the supposedly good reviews they have that are very questionable today. I picked up my new Momentum 29G in December 2023, it was supposed to bring us fun and adventure. During the first rain, water started coming in through both sliders, the generator stopped working, black water started leaking, and the reclining seats came loose. I took it under warranty, they had it for 3 months. I went out in the RV and during the first rain, the same problem, water through both sliders and the generator not working. Three months again under warranty, they let me know it was ready, I pick it up and the same problem continues, water coming in through the sliders and the generator not working. 10 months later without using the camper, it is scheduled to go under warranty again. I have called and written to Grand Design and they have not resolved anything. This is my third RV, my first Grand Design and it will be the last. Show less

Ours is a 2018 that we have had absolutely no problem with. I take that back, we had a small slide issue that Grand Design quickly provided us with a replacement part for no cost. We simply paid a RV mobile repair to install and its been great since! We have been living in ours since June 2022, purchased used. This has been an exceptional unit. Our 2022 Ram 3500 pulls this without issue. Lots of storage, I can't say enough great things about our home! Show less

They'll make you as the consumer, jump through hoops to fix the problems with their units. Calling any idea they have "suggestions" so they can weasel out of coverage of anything done to your unit per their "suggestions" Even if you show them proof of the issues (video, written documentation, multiple witnesses, etc.) and show that the parts they've installed are out of specification - they'll assume no liability leaving you with the bills and an unsafe expensive camper because they choose not to fix it. They'll try to bully you into submission when you stand up to them as well, I've found and anytime they have information that hurts their case further they will call you rather than continue in email correspondence so they can try to lose the paper trails. They'll also tell you that people with 30+ years' experience don't supersede their techs who claim nothing is wrong when they've proven time and time again their products are failing. They'll also blame you - your experience, tow vehicles, hitch(es), everything they can to push blame from their units. In my case the trailers axles were installed 5" out of spec in terms of front to rear positioning, and also have a 1/2" difference between a front & rear hanger diagonally causing sway, bounce, tracking issues, movement etc. in the trailer. I've learned since that I'm not the only owner experiencing this issue and not many have found solutions that work. Those who have, I've tried with no difference made in my particular unit. Now I'm told it's my responsibility to pay a 3rd party out of pocket to prove (again) that there's still an issue. Then, once I do; it must be reviewed by their team before they deem it something they need to fix under their "warranty". I have since found cracks in the trailers frame and gaps / drops throughout the flooring inside. I have filed a report with the NHTSA at this time providing every detail, email, invoice, photo, video proof, and written statement. Show less

We bought a brand new 2022 Grand Design Momentum 395 MS in June 2022. We shortly started having issues with everything. The door couldn't be shut unless you slam it. The garage door and track broke. We weren't able to use the patio or entrance at all. The sewer line cracked and started leaking. (Not during winter months). The wall separating the garage from living room separated from the ceiling. The walls were coming apart in the bedroom. The furnace would not turn on in the middle of the night unless I got up and turned it on manually every one-two hours. We had the ignitor board fixed. This only worked for a couple of weeks and then we started having the same issue again. We took it into Bish's where it sat for 5 months while they tried to fix everything. They ended up replacing the entire furnace and everything else. The ceiling immediately separated again. The oven ignitor went out and the entire oven had to be replaced. After another couple of weeks the furnace started doing the same thing. We had the motherboard replaced and the command center. The ignitor board went out again and had to be replaced. We had to replace the female power outlet to connect to power. We soon discovered that the water system is completely defective and started leaking after 20+ hours of repairs we finally stopped the leaking. Due to the tubing and clamp job they did during manufacturing the entire water system needs to be relined and redone. The lines in the shower need to be redone requiring the walls to be removed. The lines underneath the sink all need to be fixed as well. We fixed the propane regulator finally fixing the furnace issue during the night. After 3 months of infrequent use of the BRAND NEW furnace the motor burned out again. The entire venting system is not correctly done. Per the Suburban manual we are supposed to have 4.4 vents we barely have 3 and that was after fixing the 4 inch vent we had the one in the kitchen opened out more because it was never completely opened during manufacturing and occluded approximately 85%. The foam seal was blocking the air flow we were only receiving 1 x 1.5 in of air flow through a 4 inch duct. In order to prevent the motor from continuing to burn out we need to add another 4 inch and 1.5 in vent. We use this 5th wheel for work. We are unable to leave it anywhere for very long without winterizing it because since the furnace won’t work everything will freeze. This is a defective unit. Since the duct system is a preexisting issue NWAN will not cover these expenses. The faulty duct system is causing the motor in the furnace to burn out and it only takes a couple of uses of the furnace to burn it out. The issues with this camper has disrupted our work, displaced my family, and has cost us thousands of dollars in repairs on top of traveling, hotels, loss of food. We are not new to 5th wheels, this being our third. We wanted the Grand Design because it is marketed as a high-quality top of the line product. We are grossly dissatisfied with Grand Design and their customer service team. We have called and are told they are unable to disclose any information about our claim only the agent can. I have sent two emails since 1/4/2024 and have not received any responses. We have already spoken to the dealership. We don't think us eating $35,000 + is fair for a defective product Grand Design manufactured. We are defeated and done. Our family is separated and displaced. The issues are never ending, we feel like we finally get everything fixed and the next day it’s something else. We don’t want this camper anymore or any other camper that Grand Design has touched. I’m very unhappy. 2 days old. Fridge,oven,microwave AC And Heat does not work. All have to be replaced. WOW not even a week old never was able to use it. I believe Grand Design is now making very expensive garbage.Run away do not purchase one of these Trailers. Buyer beware. You have been warned. All I have now is a 120k lump of coal and a payment. If you're looking to spend six figures for an RV that has very little storage, a Norcal refrigerator that's never worked, slide outs that break within 13 months and switches engineered with telephone wire, this is the RV for you. In two years, I've had it back for warranty work (which was not done) four times. The refrigerator is nothing more than a giant magnet occupying 50% of my kitchen. The few times the freezer momentarily worked, it quickly stopped, resulting in an inch of water pooling in the bottom of the freezer. The bathroom has minimal storage and the slide out for the master stopped working before a year, so driving around with our closet two feet into the road is always a blast. We've made many friends at RV parks who flag us down to let us know about our protruding slide out and rust streaming down the side thanks to the leaking water heater. Because the slide out is broken we have the joy of not being able to use the right side of the master closet or getting out of the bed without slamming our knee into it. The back switch that moves the toy hauler bed up and down stopped working, so we are unable to drive any vehicles in or out of the toy hauler without hot wiring the switch (which incidentally is a phone cord). The toy hauler bathroom black tank won't empty (the lever is stuck) and the self leveling worked precisely four times, so playing marbles is always an option for rainy nights. We love betting which direction the marble will travel. We opted to dissect the showerhead and found it offers a multitude of water pressure regulators ensuring any female has zero chance of washing her hair. The kitchen faucet completely came off. Just as if someone has sawed it off with a machete. For reference, we are a couple in our fifties. No small children terrorizing the camper. It's been used fewer five times. To be fair, it does tow well. I'd suggest finding an alternative. Show less

I will never and I mean work with bretz rv in Boise idaho. Very poor customer service. Bought brand new momentum grand design toy hauler. First trip air conditioner goes out. Back doors fell off. Water stop working. Then next trip no water again. Refrigerator stop working. Back doors fell off again. The back patio gate bent. This is the worst trailer ever. Bretz has done nothing to resolve. This is just insane. Show less

My wife and I purchased this TT after our last one just decided it wasn't going on anymore vacations. We researched toy hauler travel trailers and after much review, settled on the Grand Design momentum 21G. Out the box it was a fantastic trailer. All the options we purchased worked as planned. After about the fourth trip, we noticed small flaws in the actual design of the trailer. These were noted and saved so that when we dropped it off at the dealer, they would have a list of things to repair. If you went with the Three Season doors, note that the screws they use to attach the tracks to the upper and lower slides are too small/short, causing the door to detach. The second thing is the glass panels on the door are in the wrong position with the lower panel over lapping the upper panel which allows water to come in if its raining. The rear canopy stops some of the water, but not all of it. Which brings us to the generator doo. The issue we had was that when towing the trailer through a rain storm, water would seep through the gasket, filling your compartment with about a half inch of water. Making this issue worse is the fact that there are knockouts in the bottom of the compartment which lay right on top of the flooring, which allows water to escape into the bedroom and living area of the trailer. Design flaw. Not good. Water damage was unnoticeable. Another issue we had was the black water tank valve would stick in the open position creating a big mess. We experienced issues with the ramp door patio railing and Grand Design replaced the entire thing. They covered all the warranty work we listed. We did not buy the extended warranty because those are a waste of money. The priority service pitch they make is also no good. We were in Fredricksburg, Texas on a week long trip when the black water tank stuck the first time. I called the number and was advised the nearest service center was in San Antonio Texas, 85 miles away. Nope. After our last trip of 2022, we took the trailer in to get these issues corrected. Grand design has notified me they will cover everything. I'm also getting a new generator door and box. Don't spend your money on an extended warranty. I have a small RV repairman who I used to assist me with our last trailer. I will use him now that the factory warranty has expired. For the money you spend on the extended warranty, you can get alot of quality work done on your trailer with add-ons. For those of you who experience trailer sway; We did too. Very scary. Make sure your weights and measures are correct. It turned out our Toyota Tundra was overloaded by 800+ pounds. Please do the math. We since got a heavy duty truck for this purpose and it's like night and day. Stay safe and have fun. Show less
