Forest River Sunseeker reviews

Our first RV - purchased new in OH and drove back to AZ. A Forest River Sunseeker Mercedes Benz 2400T. It was planned for just my wife and I - we love the 2400 T layout. Two electronic theatre recliners, with tray tables - instead of a booth (we do not like booths). We have the fold down queen bed, a nice sofa and a pop in dining table. It all works for us. Probably the best feature is the bathroom - that sold my wife. It is the largest in its class, the full width of the RV, with plenty of room and privacy to get dressed in. This is one of the best floor plans for how we RV. Literally everything is accessible while traveling. No need to put the slide out for an overnight stop. Amazing storage- this is due to no bed slide or outdoor kitchen (my preference).we can store our eBikes and tones of other gear in the rear storage. For a class C it has tons of storage bays. My 18 year old says that the bunk over cab is very comfortable for sleeping. We added a 1” eggshell style pad to help with seams. So much interior storage! My one negative here is the wasted space with the wire shelf pull out “pantry” total piece of junk. There is no perfect RV. You will always need modifications /personalizations. We've used this RV for a few years now. It runs excellent and the open floor plan and lots and lots of storage is fantastic!! We had plenty of room to put in 2 normal full size queen mattresses which are much better than the standard RV-type mattresses. Everything just works and living in it for long vacations is wonderful. Never leaked during rain storms, etc, and plenty of hot water. Really like that the frig and freezer keeps working with the electric goes out as it works on propane as well. No food spoilage! Water heater works on both propane and electric as well, so we have hot water and hot showers even if there's no electric hookup. Really love the internal 4,000 watt generator that starts up at the push of a button if electric hookup is not working for long periods of time or boon docking. :) Show less

I had 4 different travel trailers, types and sizes. This Class C makes it easier to travel. I have 55 gallon tank and on average I can travel up to 500 miles by staying at 65mph. Any faster will be roughly 300 to 400 miles. I’m not in a rush. It’s light and is to maneuver. It’s 24ft long so I sometimes can fit in a parking spot by backing up into it. I love it. I have a family of 5 all children are young adults. We all fit nice and comfortable. Also with A/C from the coach and vehicle together it cools faster and heats quicker because it smaller than others. Show less

Overall a nice rv. AC is a bit loud 15K/hp. Had a few minor issues typical of all brands of rv. Perfect for me and the wife. Levelers, full paint, v-10 engine, 6 speed tranny. Watch for the fake leather to peel. I replaced my theater seats with Thomas Payne cloth seats. Show less

We've enjoyed this RV. It has served us well. We've found that we don't use it as we had anticipated. It is time to move on to different adventures. The RV is comfortable and a perfect size for my wife and I. It is very manueverable with no problem in parking lots, city streets or highways. Show less

Do you want to cruise the Coastline of Florida or is Colorado Mountains calling you. You could travel up the East Coast to the Cape Cod League or even Maine for a little Lobster. I love the size and the interior of the vehicle. It is very easy to drive. The 7.3 V8 engine has sufficient power and it never felt like it is at it's limit. I can not tell about the top speed of the vehicle as I never exceeded 80 mph. But there was still plenty of power for more. And it feels perfect for two to four persons boondocking (dry-camping) for four to five days. The size of the unit gives us no restriction within the National and State and other Parks, which are limiting access to 25'. With the interior layout you can use the cabin as well without using the slide outs. This is a huge advantage to other models as most of the slide out beds are not usable when retracted. With the dinette slide out there is significant additional room and open space. We love it. We were three months down the road across the country and the unit is unfortunately falling apart. We had multiple unexpected failures. And the failures can not be addressed by Forest River or the service centers without a miniumum of eight (8!) weeks waiting time. Meaning Forest River expected us to stop our planned tour for eight weeks until we are in line to be taken care of. We are on the road and we are using the vehicle. We bought it new because we thought that is a safe bet, Forest River would be a qualtity product and nothing can go wrong even in an event of a possible failure. Totally false assumption. We learned the hard way on our trip: The vehicle seems not to be built for long trips. The quality of the cabin is at least questionable if not out of any quality perception. The unit looks really nice, I still like the setup and the view, as well the inside setup and the layout but I did not expect to have: - Missing cap on the water drain resulted in massive water spillage - Water splash in front of the kitchen sink with heavy rain. Roof is not waterproof with heavy rain. - Screws which are not perpendicular to the surface but in an angle for you can scratch your foot or fall over it. Very unprofessional execution and craftmanship. - Thermofuse in the hot water heater was incorrectly mounted. Too close to the gas burner which results in failure. - Water temperature of the hot water heater was way too low and could not be adjusted. - Entry door to the cabin is mounted incorrectly and did not close properly. - Gravity water inlet incorrectly manufactured. It prevented gravity filling from the outside - Folding door between kitchen and bed can not be closed because of misalignment. - Non working roof fan. From the very beginning the fan did not work - broken wood underneath the cabinets which prevented to close the drawer in a normal way - the basement is detaching from the frame. The splash water from the street is flooding the basement as well as the dust from the street which is covering everything down there. - Slide out stopping to work properly. - Electronics like the TV just stopped to work and needed replacement. - The chassis radio is turning on unexpectedly and creating white noise when when you go into the rear shift. - The solar charging electronics failed and can not be replaced. - Baggage door holders on the outside are falling off without any load as the material is brittle. - Weight distribution correct for the vehicle? Hanging in the back with low clearance  All that stuff may happen. If so, the decisive part is how the manufacturer is dealing with the situation. And here Forest River and the dealership are totally failing to deliver. There is just a eight weeks plus waiting time until you are in line and then it may take another couple of weeks to fix it. The dealership could not even answer our questions we had to help us to fix some problems. I called service over and over again, left messages in their phone system and did not get a response. Same with Forest River Service. They just duck and cover. If you buy a car for $ 100 000, would you expect to wait for a repair for eight weeks until you are in line to be taken care of? Did you ever experience this from a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz dealer? But remember: This is what you get with the so called Forest River Nationwide Warranty. I guess the unit is built for lite use only. Like "drive 200 miles and hook it up for 4 weeks and then come back home until next year". It is not stable and rugged enough to be used for a trip on the highways across this beautiful country. We did not ride extensively, just 12 000 miles in five months, but this is already way beyond the capability of the cabin. The built is just not stable enough. Just to be clear, there is no issue at all with the Ford 350 chassis. As I said, beautiful, reliable 7.3l V8 engine with a consumption around 10mpg. We sold the unit after 7 months as we are fedup with the quality issues. We will buy another one, but definitively not a Forest River. Can not recommend. Show less
