Hello,
I am writing to you because, as new owners of a 2023 Heartland Fuel 395 (purchased March 28, 2024), we brought our camper in for warranty service work to address several issues, one we feel is pretty major, which our dealer/service provider would not correct. Camping World located on West Freeway Drive in Hugo, Minnesota is our dealer/ service provider.
Since just before our first trip, we noticed a loud squeak in the floor in the kitchen area in front of the refrigerator. See attached video, taken on May 10, 2024. It is loud and annoying. It is in a high traffic area.
Camping World service said they would not fix it (under warranty) because Heartland told them it would not authorize it to be fixed because it is “within specs”. We feel this is unacceptable. This camper’s MSRP is upwards of $100,000. We have had a 5th wheel toy hauler in the past. Two of our family members have similar toy haulers. None have had an issue such as this.
We would appreciate someone from Heartland contacting us to address this concern.
Response:
This has been reviewed by my management team.
Please see page 6 in the attached owner’s manual we have for all of our RV’s.
On page 6, under what is not covered, does state Accessories and equipment that are working as designed, but which owner is unhappy with the design.
We always want to do what we can to help all of our retail customers. In this case, Heartland RV respectfully declines warranty assistance for this issue, and will continue to work with you under Heartland RV warranty policies and guidelines.
D.

I bought my 2023 Heartland Big Country 3200 RLK brand new in April 2023 and have had quite a few issues with it. To start with, the landing gear/leveling jacks have never worked properly, nor does auto level feature work, had it re-calibrated at the dealer and still doesn’t work properly. The ducted air conditioning system does not cool the RV very well, any temperatures over 95 degrees and the air conditioners cannot keep up (having two 15k BTU A/C’s this rv should have no problem keeping cool). One of the bed struts in the under bed storage area broke off the second time I lifted the bed to put something in that storage compartment. The shower liner began delaminating from the wall after three months of usage. The black and grey water tank vents were not hooked up properly and would vent those disgusting gasses into the RV. Some other small things I found wrong with the RV are as follows: The sound bar in the entertainment system was not connected, the handrail for the stairs began to come apart, the Winegard 5g WiFi system was not connected/working, wood trim for the faux shutter window in the bedroom fell off and hit me in the head while sleeping, and many pieces of hardware on the exterior of the fifth wheel have required tightening or have fallen off (wheel skirts, hand rail, reflectors, etc). Lastly, the refrigerator condensation drain doesn’t work, there’s always water all over everything in the fridge. For a fifth wheel that has an MSRP of over 100k (according to Heartland RV), I’ve been pretty disappointed. The one year warranty is a joke as well but at least Heartland covered most of the above mentioned issues before the 1 yr warranty expired. I recommend buying from an RV manufacturer with better quality control and better warranty.

Forgot to mention how poor the owners manual is. Heartland has NO technical manual and the owners manual is a General manual that covers multiple models. If I had known that I could NOT get a technical manual when I bought this rig, I wouldn’t have bought it! Plus nothing is marked except for someone’s scribble. Heartland can’t afford a label maker?? Give me a break! Check out my YouTube channel @CrazyandtheMexican for a video detailing the little issues? Like the cable TV connections in the “wet” bay!

So… we have had this 2023 Cyclone for a little more than a month and we have to take it back to the deal ship to fix a couple of issues. First, the bedroom slide will not retract or open without banging your knee against the tilted bed. Something to do with the switch that makes sure the bed is in the tilt position before it will operate the slide mechanism. 2nd, some of the CFI protected outlets are NOT working. The main CFI is in the bathroom and it works and the CFI under the cabinet where the sink is works but the CFI outlets on the shared garage wall in the kitchen, none of those outlets work. 3. The auto Jack system should go to hitch height by pressing a button. It doesn’t. Keeps giving me errors. No big deal! Just use the manual up and down button and once you have them extended, auto level works. It’s just a pain in the ass that you have a button that automatically raises your camper to hitch height but that doesn’t work. Everything else is great! Love the freedom we have with this unit. I just think Heartland doesn’t give a shit about what their customers think of their unit like Grand Design does. If Heartland would take the feedback of their customers, fix the little things and NOT cheap out on some things, they could complete with Grand Design or Keystone.
