Grand Design means Poor Execution. Ours had the following defects:
Underbelly heater duct was too short and not inserted into the floor. No underbelly heat meant our pipes froze on our first fall trip. Sawdust leaking out of every crevice everywhere. They never cleaned up as they were building it. Also wood screws, and enough spare parts under the cabinets to install a second TV antenna. Kinked hot water pipe. Electric tongue jack wired thru unprotected holes in steel frame. Combined with the fuse failing to blow, there were sparks and burn marks where the wires wore thru. Poor paint job. The frame and stairs were rusting before the first season was over. Surging water pump. 6 months to replace a recalled and faulty Chinese made propane pressure control valve. Undersized battery dead within 2 years. Cheap Chinese made Westlake tires wore out at 7,000 miles. A defective toilet valve flooded the bathroom and there is no way to turn water off just at the toilet. You have to turn off the water to everything. There are no shut off valves to any of the sinks or the toilet. But there was a loose fitting elbow drain under the shower.

I really like the floor plan layout of the unit. The wife loves the cabinets and the pantry. She also likes the wardrobe closet in the bedroom that is the entire width of the trailer. It has a clothes bar and shelves for even more storage. I’m over 6 feet tall and I don’t feel cramped in here, even in the shower. I like that the head of the bed is located in the slide out and runs across the width of the trailer instead of the length, like most trailer’s beds. It even has room at the foot of the bed for a dresser and room to get dressed in front of it, instead of being cramped.
The kitchen sink is located against the back of the trailer which gives ample space for kitchen duties and lots of cabinet space for dishes.
I also like storage area lights that can be switched to motion detection, which is pretty handy when your hands are full. The light above the entry door can also be switched to motion, which is nice at night, so you never have to enter a dark trailer. One of the things I don’t like is that the kitchen floor squeaks a lot, even when completely level. The bathroom sink could also stand to be a little bit larger and deeper.
I’ve only owned the unit for 4 months but I like it quite a bit so far.

After months of shopping and review (quite a bit of it here! Thanks RVInsider!) I've just picked up a 2019 Grand Design Solitude 380FL.
We knew we wanted a front living floor plan but just about everything else was up in the air.
After looking at so many RVs, all I can say is how shocked I was by how many RV manufacturers there are out there building extremely disappointing RVs. Even some that I thought were supposed to be high quality just felt flimsy and fragile with obvious short-cuts taken everywhere you look.
Open Range was the most surprising. I've always been told they are some of the best, but after a jammed-open black tank valve and a the salesman telling my wife "Oh no the floor flexing like that is pretty much standard in everything you're going to look at."
No, it's not. Grand Design floor are absolutely rock solid.
Another surprising flaw to compare with Open Range is the lack of storage. In their flagship FL model, they built in (I think) 8ft ceilings in the rear bedroom. Grand Design opted to elevate the bedroom, creating massive amounts of storage space beneath. More storage than I think I'll ever practically use.
The floor plan is incredible. Almost every other FL seemed to have either a half-bath or pantry in the kitchen. Grand Design put both in this unit, which just feels amazing!
Last up is the rear bathroom. In 2019 they switched it up to include the most amazing bathroom I've ever seen in an rv, (and most houses honestly. The shower isn't the largest, but has about a 4 inch drop and a decent amount of space. The toilets are solid, the double vanity is awesome and there's enough space to do yoga.
All of the wood feels like actual finished wood. It is clearly NOT that awful particle board with some wood panel cover/sticker crap that just peels off. The counters are actually solid. Everything is just so solid!
The only star I can dock from Grand Design is in the towing category because with all the solid construction, these things are HEAVY! A full 2000 lbs higher dry weight vs. the Open Range, but again, that weight savings is what made the Open Range feel so flimsy.

I purchased a Grand Design RV because they reportedly were a high quality unit and excelled at customer service. My refrigerator failed after the first year and was repaired under warranty. The repair failed less than a year later. This time I was told I was on the hook for repairs as the warranty had expired. This in spite of the ongoing problems with the refrigerator. I called Grand Design and they couldn't have cared less. They said it was Dometic's problem as they manufactured the refrigerator. I was stunned that a company that advertised themselves as wanting customers for life treats their customers this way. Grand Design doesn't stand behind their product. To say that they have customer service is an oxymoron.

We bought this RV because Grand Design was purported as producing a high quality product with an emphasis on customer service. The overall quality of the RV is good but the Dometic components are junk. Also, Grand Design customer service is non-existent. Their mode of operation is to sidestep any responsibility for problems and defer the customer to the manufacturer of the problematic component. The customer has to do all of the leg work!
When the warranty expires you are on your own whether the problem is fixed or not.

Next trip out it blew a tire, granted these tires looked brand new. Ripped off the siding on the trailer. Then the outside shower blew a plastic POS pressure water fitting and flooded the entire underneath storage compartment. Had this been a fitting NOT to the outside shower, it would have flooded the ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE RV. I suppose that will be next?!!! This trailer is GARBAGE AND THE WARRANTY IS USELESS.

I looked for awhile because I needed a 2 bedroom 2 bath travel trailer. I relocate often do to work and needed the space for my family. Very rare to find one with both needs. I finally found this one. All the upgrades to weren't bad either. Lots of space and room to spread out. The inside amenities and upgraded residential aesthetics are great to ,doesn't make it seem to much like a trailer which is really nice since we would be missing that for awhile. Stays quite warm in the winter and very cool in summer. The outside kitchen is great to for the summer.
