2015 Forest River reviews

I bought the trailer while still active duty in the military in 2015. We had been living in a 32 ft Denali, which leaked air through the slide-outs bad enough you couldn't keep even the largest of flying insects from coming through the gaps. I chose Cedar Creek 38 CK because it had the washer and dryer in the bedroom slide out, which makes for a much roomier front closet and overall floor plan in the bedroom. As convenient as this seemed at first, it turned out to be a problem which required the slide out floor and external floor to be replaced. Although I have had to make numerous small repairs and modifications on a fairly regular basis (everything from replacing the sliding tracks on the pantry and garbage compartment drawers, replacing the ceiling fan, repairing and replacing the fireplace internal components, to placing angle iron braces underneath the floor to keep the plastic under- compartment panels from falling off while driving down the road) . Since purchasing it I and my wife have lived in the trailer primarily full time, and I must say, that overall, we really like this trailer. The overall quality of the trailer seems to be excellent in comparison to most other fifth wheel travel trailers I have both owned and observed. It holds heat really well, even in the most extreme winter weather. I did end up putting vents around the base of the bed, and in the steps leading up to the bedroom in order to allow for warm-air circulation which definately helps to keep poorly placed water lines from freezing. Likely, the biggest problem I have had is a premature aging of the roofing material. As I could not afford the convenience of a once in a lifetime fiberglass treatment, I simply coated the entire roof with three thick coats of white Flex Seal. So far, it seems to be working. Although the roof never leaked, it certainly would have had I waited much longer. The factory rubber roofing material is supposed to last at least 10 years, it barely made eight. It was developing soft spots and a rough enough texture that it couldn't be cleaned easily without risking tearing the material. Every time I have spoken to the factory about any type of repair or problem, they have always told me I need to bring the trailer to them. This seems to be an avoidance tactic that has worked well enough for the company that they continue to do it. Show less

Would not recommend Forest River to my worst enemy.i have had nothing but problems with this trailer since purchase in 2015; This is not my first review, however last June one of the windows in the slider literally exploded into a million pieces . When we returned from our holidays took it to be replaced along with a few other problems. Forest River discontinued that design and the windows are not available. Apparently the windows have to be custom made at a cost of $2000. 00. It is now The middle of February and still no windows. So after market sales Forest River just takes the money and run. I have spent so much in the last 9 years I cannot do anything with this trailer Show less

The worst trailer we have purchased fist trip out the water tank dropped on to the axel. Manufacture told me to take it to the dealer we were in the States at the time. That was only the beginning of the problems. Every time we took it out something went wrong. I have replaced every possible screw with hollow wall screws , which were not measured . Window covering are crooked I have spent over $4000. On repairs on a scale of 1 to 10. Minus 10 . I have so much money I have so money invested in it can’t afford to trade in. This RV was an awesome camper. It's a full-length bumper pull toy hauler. The best thing about this unit is the floor plan. It literally has 2 separate bedrooms each with a queen size bed, and each room with a real door to separate the spaces. This is perfect for camping with kids and guests. The second bedroom converts to the garage and it also can be arranged as 2 couches, a table and benches or 2 twin beds. Each bedroom has direct on-suite access to the bathroom. This unit also has a slide in the main living area created a spacious feel. Many bumper pull toy haulers do not have a slide. The outdoor shower is convenient for rinses off or washing feet before entering have having fun and getting dirty. This camper over all was excellent and I would highly recommend it. Show less

When my mom told me she was downsizing to the stationary RV life, I thought she was crazy! She googled everything she could find and at the end of her search, nothing would do but this Forest River Rockwood Windjammer 3001W. She sang its praises (the closet! the storage! the big back window!). If was easy to set up and use. No cramped spaces, no hard to reach maintenance areas. She finally found one and brought it home - to live in our big metal barn. She pulled all the furniture out, replaced the boxy RV curtains with rods and pretty curtains (did you know you could do that?!?) and moved in all her pretty furniture. Took about a week before you could sit in her living room and chat while you watched the deer through that big back window. It was perfect. My two kids want to visit? Fine - there was plenty of room for them to play. My brother wanted to visit? He can stand up straight inside, and he's a big guy. Have to admit, I was a little envious of her little personalized paradise... She's downsized a little more to an independent living facility where someone else cooks and cleans for her, so her RV is looking for it's new owner. Wish I could talk my husband into it...it would make quite a she-shed... I can think of all kinds of people that would love this layout. Single adventurers, a couple looking to retire, college kid wanting to live on a budget, ranch hand, guest house - this was a great RV with it's original layout and furniture - opening it up and putting your own "real" stuff in it was even cooler. This is the cheapest made 5th wheel. Trim is piping off. The refrigerator tips over had to put screws in our self. The water hasn’t worked, even after repairs. There are no electric plugs and if there is one they are in the worst possible place. Had to replace one air condition unit. This will be the last Forest River we purchase. Couldn’t get any dealer to work on warranty work near us told us we would need to go three hours away. Show less

I have owned this RV since it was New in 2015. Nothing but good things to say about this model. Workmanship and reliability are excellent. The only problem I have had was with the generator. Company recommends regular gas but it contains water/alcohol which is bad for the generator. Had it rebuilt and now use premium gas and generator starts every time. The leveler system stopped once but the company sent the new part/circuit board fedex and it was up and running in 2 days. Everything else has worked perfectly I would buy another except I am 85 and need knee replacements so my RV days are over. I regularly tow a Jeep Rubicon with no trouble. Show less

We have had nothing but problems with this 5th wheel since we bought it. Black tank is messed up, which should be cover under warranty. The electrical plug for the 12 volt came out bc it doesn't fit. Getting Wade's in Joplin to come and fix things are like pulling teeth. WILL NOT BUY FROM THEM AGAIN! Show less

I’ve been staying in my fifth wheel camper in Tennessee for a year now. I’ve never seen such cheap material used for such an expensive camper. The leather couches, or should I say fake leather, peeled apart within the first two weeks. I was a general contractor for 21 years and I’ve never seen such cheap material used in my life. For a $70,000 camper, need to raise your standards or get out of the business. Would not recommend it to anybody Show less

We have enjoyed our 2015 Forest River Forester 3011DL. We used it for three and four day trips along the coast of Washington and Oregon. Comfortable with a common sense layout. More storage that you can fill up. Well worth our investment. Show less
