We purchased our Jayco Jayflight in 2011. We have LOVED our trailer, and have enjoyed many family holidays in it.
During the warranty period, water had entered our trailer through the outdoor kitchen door, as well a at the top of the slides. Eaves were installed by our dealer at that time at no cost to us; however, we continued to notice water on the carpets at the base of the slides.
This past summer, we noticed a soft spot in the floor of the dinette slide.
We took our trailer to a reputable 5-star RV repair service for diagnostics (not the dealer this time as we weren't confident in their ability to correctly diagnose the source of the water).
It turned out that the hot water heater had not been sealed correctly during original installation/construction, and has been leaking into the floor of our trailer for seven years. As well, the underside of the trailer was not sealed completely during contruction which allowed water from the road to enter from underneath the trailer. The entire floor of the trailer had to be replaced; essentially, the trailer was gutted, and rebuilt.
The cost to us to repair our trailer was $19,000 CDN.
Our dealer gave us $600, and Thor aka Jayco matched the $550 for a total of $1,150.
So we are out of pocket $17,800.
Will we purchase a Thor product in the future? No.
Going Canadian next time - BIG Foot or LTV or Pleasureway.
